Tracy Pape

Tracy is a native of Van Buren Arkansas and she is celebrating her 16th year as an experienced Early Childhood teacher here at New Haven. Tracy’s educational background includes classes through OSU Extension Services and Tulsa Technology Center. In addition she has completed the Rye-Pickler Method of Child Development and annually attends the Friends of Early Education Conference. Topics addressed during the Friends of Early Childhood Education Conference include developmental characteristics of the young child, Social and emotional development of the child, value of play, manipulative play, parent and teacher communication, art, music, and creative dramatic play.

Furthermore, Tracy has shared her fabulous teaching skills with participants at the Friends of Early Childhood Conference and Fun In the Sun Mini Conference by preparing and presenting several workshops on music in the classroom, specifically dealing with music and Big Books and their value in the classroom. Tracy was honored in 2001 as a Friends Top Ten, for her fabulous skills in working with children, parents, and her peers.

Tracy began her teaching career at New Haven in the Infant class, staying there for one year before moving to a position in the Toddler II room, where she taught for 13 years. Tracy also taught twos and threes in our summer programs. Tracy also served as an office assistant and as a transportation assistant for our Kindergarten Enrichment Program. In addition, Tracy worked in our Before and After Extended Childcare Program for four years. For the past three years Tracy has taught in our two year old classes In her free time, Tracy and her husband Greg are active members here at New Haven United Methodist Church. They also keep busy with their two teenage children, Rachel, 20, a sophomore at OSU and Brett a senior at Memorial High School. Her family is developing a passion for OSU football while at the same time remaining loyal to the Razorbacks! They also enjoy antiquing and flea marketing.

The staff has ongoing training in the fundamentals of Early Childhood Development through scheduled workshops and other educational opportunities. In addition, all faculty are certified in First Aid, CPR, and Food Handling. Many teachers have a long tenure at New Haven Day School, and most are degreed or certified in Education.
