Early childhood classes are available for children aged nine months
to two-years-old.
Young Toddlers
A loving, nurturing environment helps children explore and grow during
what is usually their first experience away from home. Activities
promote:
Language development, through reading, songs, and
puppetry
Motor development, through manipulatives and physical
play
Social development, through adult interaction and small
group activities
Creative expression, through sensory experiences
Children in this class must be 9 months old by September 1. Teacher/pupil ratio
is 2 adults to 6 children. Older Toddlers and Twos
A secure, caring environment helps each child enjoy new concepts
and experiences. Although children this age mainly engage in parallel
play, an opportunity for socialization and group awareness is provided.
Activities are appropriate to their rapidly developing physical, language,
and cognitive skills, including:
Art and music activities
Fine motor and gross activities
Emphasis on self-help skills, such as washing hands and
opening lunches
Outdoor and indoor play
Reading and puppetry
Creative movement games
Teacher/pupil ratio is 2 adults to 10 children.
